I think I have a solution, while it is true that there have always been self centred, self serving members of parliament the real rot set in with the rise of the career politician. We now have a large number of MP's who have never experienced the real world, they have gone straight from education into politics and are weaker as a result.

I suggest we adopt a procedure that works well in the British military where regardless of how good or bad you are at your job the longest you can stay in post is 3 years. Remember even the President of the USA can only do 2 terms.

We should limit the tenure of MP's to a maximum of 2 terms and then out into the real world with no possibility of return.

This would work for a number of reasons, it would be self policing because there is the certainty of an end date where their grubby little secrets and deals would be revealed, they could not view it as a career, just a service to society and it kills of the complacency of the sitting member in a safe seat.

I have a good example locally where the MP is one John Bercow. The reality is that if the Conservative put up an orange jelly as its local candidate it would be elected. Bercow has a job for life and boy does he know it, he does arrogance and complacency for Britain. The result is that even though my natural tendency is to support the right of centre, I am disenfranchised because Bercow only ever does what is good for Bercow, not what is good for the electorate. A socialist voter in this area may as well be stripped of their vote for all the good it does them and thats not healthy in the long term because they just lose interest.

In addition to the simple restriction of the maximum term, if we only allow MP's who already live, or are prepared to move at their expense, in their constituency we don't have to buy them a house. We could buy a serviced apartment block close to Westminster and when in the House of Commons they could book a room. Funnily enough this is how it used to be with Dolphin Court in Pimlico.

Finally to complete the tidying up process we need to recognise that the number of electors making up a constituency is way out of date.
In a world of instant communications, internet, email and blogs an MP is perfectly able to look after twice as many voters. So instead of an average of 67,000 voters per constituency lets make it 130,000 which with an electorate of some 44,500,000 makes 341 MP's.

Thats a reduction of 318 of the greedy bastards, saving us all at least £160,000,000 per year and approaching a billion per parliamentary term.

Lets take our democracy back.

 Comments

Oh to be in England now that Spring is here

Well, I thought just go the other side of the world for a while and when I come back the insanity that is the UK will have at the very least stabilised - some chance !

So here I am back and incredibly the Brits have still not quite worked out that Brown and his clique are just dishonest, they care not a jot for the UK populace, they are merely determined to stay in power for as long as possible by whatever means it takes.

Rule One with these guys -take absolutely no notice of what they say, it will at best be a distortion of the truth, but keep a very, very careful eye on what they actually do.

Lets look at what has been done in the last 5 months, billions have been poured into the banking infrastructure - why ? the UK is a broadly capitalist society, you cannot have capitalism in parts because it doesn't work, in the same way you cannot just use parts of Keynesian theory. The banks should have been allowed to fail as the strong and surprise surprise better run one would have picked up the failed ones for a song. Consequently the crisis caused collectively by negligence of the banks management, the FSA and Brown would have been over in days. Perhaps more importantly the people who caused it would have got their just desserts. You can't get a £750,000 pension out of a bankrupt company. Is it I wonder coincidental that the worse culprits were The Royal Bank of Scotland, and Halifax Bank of Scotland, is this a Scottish plot to destroy England

But Brown and his " regulators" couldn't allow the collapse because it would have revealed their complicity in the failures.

They claim that it is in line with economic theory for the state to spend when in recession, again selective use of the theory, which in fact suggests that Governments build up surpluses during the good times to spend during the down part of the cycle.
Having borrowed like crazy during the boom Brown is trying to borrow even more to spend his way out of the bust. Big big problem Gord, first it gets ever less likely that anyone will lend you money and at some point future generations have to pay it back.

Although the latter is made easier by the elephant in the room, the huge lie that no one dare mention, now that Gord has pressed the Zimbabwe option on the great money printer in the sky the rate of inflation will inevitably rocket at some point in the near future, destroying the debt.

So Gordon you have now made a clean sweep, first you stole my pension, then you stole my income so that you could get your hands on my money for nothing (who else benefits from half a percent bank rate other than Government)now you have set in motion the process to destroy the value of my,and everyone elses, savings

In any other country this Government would have been driven from office by now, but the Brits seemed to have been hypnotised.

Wake up guys its not too late, yet.

 Comments

A True Sign of the Times ?

As a part of my normal business I keep an eye on the official list of company insolvencies to see if there is anything worth buying to add to our group.

The daily listing has, over the last few years, averaged 5 or 6 insolvencies a day in the area that interests me.

Todays had 36, thats 36 collapsed organisations and goodness knows how many people joining the dole queue and 36 times the number of suppliers that each organisations will not be able to pay, putting those suppliers under risk of going under through no fault of their own.

Interesting to note that 19 of the 36 were associated in one way or another with property.

So while Brown sits in denial on a beach in Southwold those who actually do the work and created the wealth that he and his cronies have pissed up the wall are burning on the bonfire of Browns vanity. Not that he gives a shit as he is protected from the consequence of his failure

 Comments

Mortgages Down ?

Isn't it amazing, the capacity for the media to add 2 and 2 and get 5.
The BBC reports today that:
"The number of new mortgages approved for house purchases has fallen to its lowest level since current records started, Bank of England figures show the credit crunch has reduced the availability of mortgages, especially to those house hunters who are unable to offer a large deposit".

Err excuse me but it ain't necessarily so. The previous free for all in home loans fuelled by ever rising house values had turned the UK's homeowners in to amateur property speculators, now they are faced with falling values so, sensibly, they do not want to borrow to fund a loss.

The result is that only those who need, rather than want, to move are moving.
Subsequently the number of loans approved has dropped, well they would wouldn't they.

What is not reported is the number of mortgages applied for that were rejected, as this is the only figure that would throw light on the true situation, but hey that wouldn't make such a good headline would it ?
can't really see the BBC running " UK Homeowners Behaving Sensibly " as a headline

 Comments

Another Day Another Kick in the Teeth

Evidence of the way in which the UK has developed parallel societies that have very little understanding of each other continues to accrue.
I read today that 600,000 "council staff" have walked out and are on strike for 48 hours because they are not getting an acceptable pay increase.

Brings a few obvious observations, I note the use of the terms "council staff" presumably use of the term "council workers" would have been struck down under trades description because the idle bastards don't actually do very much apart from enjoying already too high salaries and ridiculous pensions without degrading themselves by actually working.

This has caused a real dilemma for a council employee in the village, because she has been off on full pay claiming stress & anxiety from the local district council for 6 months.
should she now strike for 2 days and stop going out on the town every night or holidaying in Spain as she has so far for the period of her sickness

They are to thick to realise that few people will even notice they have gone on strike because their contribution to day to day life is so little.

Just another example of the new labour ruling classes being divorced from reality.

yesterday I read that women employees will now get 12 months paid leave if they have a baby, so how does that work then ? from where is the poor old employer supposed to get the money to pay not only the person on maternity leave but also the person doing the job they have left behind.

When did it become my responsibility to subsidise someone else desire to breed ? and why ?
where does this end ? if I make a life choice to become a drug addict or to go in pursuit of finding myself should I expect my employer to pay me for a year ?

This argument of course goes full circle because as with council staff we seem to be moving ever faster to a position where people want the salary but not the work that generates it.

 Comments

Yes - Nanny

It just gets worse & worse.

The economy is collapsing around our ears as the population holds its collective breath waiting for the pain to reach them and what great display of leadership do we get ?

The Brown One announces that we should try and shop properly and not waste as much, now there is a patronising attitude.

I thought at one time that this guy knew something about economics, does he really believe that the way to keep business confidence is not to alter the one thing that could help which is fuel duty because every single item in the shop got there on a truck or van.
But no lets persuade the populace to lessen their expenditure because then he selfishly keeps his income but the retailers and their suppliers lose theirs.

so what happens next, well we had a good example last week, M & S food sales dropped 5% causing their share price to drop 32%. So Brown wants to do this to every retailer - brilliant - what a fine leader

Sadly however he is not the only one who seems to be living in a parallel universe, the good old Church of England has now decided to show how up to date, relevant and right on it really is and instead of nailing its colours to world peace, it wants to ban women from being Bishops - what !! Where have they been for the last 100 years, in any case isn't that sort of discrimination illegal.
Great message guys - you can be a practicing homosexual but you can't be a woman. Small wonder there are now empty churches all over the UK

 Comments

Is it safe to come out again?

I keep trying to hide away in the hope that The Brown One and his henchmen can't find me.

But this also meant that I was denied the opportunity to pass my opinion on him and his regime.

So here I am.

Well what a lot has happened since I last put my thoughts to the page. sadly none of it good.

In the light of the recent ever increasing knifings, I looked back at something I wrote last year in which I suggested that each of the little bastards who thought it was big and clever to carry a knife should be sent immediately to Iraq or Afghanistan.
We could all see how hard they really were when faced with a founder member of the Taliban determined to slice their throat from ear to ear and hack their heads from their shoulders.

I suspect the answer would be not very hard at all.

At the time I was attacked as some ultra right lunatic, I suspect there may just be a few more who now agree with my view.

I threw the radio across the room last week when The Brown Ones voice announced that inflation was 3.3%, IN WHOSE EFFING WORLD !!!

If Good Old Bob Mugabe has achieved anything in this world it is proving that printing money and increasing the money supply in circulation causes inflation. In the case of Zimbabwe the printing presses are running red hot and inflation is approaching 1,000,000%
If you would care to dig through the archives of the Bank of England you will see that the Brown Regime (they also rig elections) have been printing money at the rate of about 13% over the last few years.
Those of us who live in the real world, who have not got the benefit of huge salaries, bloated expenses and ridiculously large pensions to look forward to, will recognise the figure of 13% as a far more accurate measure of the true rate of inflation.

So all you little people, just remember that the arseholes that you elected are all firmly of the view that you have TWAT or worse tattooed across your forehead.

When you face the day with not enough money to get you through until tomorrow just remember that the guy who caused it has made himself and his regime immune from the effects of his incompetance and rejoice in the fact that "He is listening to you and shares your pain"

 Comments

Oh What Joy To Be Back in the UK

I have been travelling for quite a while but have now returned to the UK - Oh What an unbridalled joy it is to be back.

I had completely forgotten what a band of wankers we have as a Government.

My first piece of news on returning was delivered by some miserable cadaverous Scot who said without a hint of irony that inflation in the UK is 2.1%. I then filled up my vehicle with diesel the price of which had increased by 15% since December 2007. next task fill up the heating oil tank, price is up 20% since last Spring, OK well lets open the post, Council Tax bill " only " increased by 5%. Right get on-line to Ocado and get some food, some items, quite a lot of them in fact, up an average of 8% Did that guy say 2.1% !! wonder what world he lives in ? ah its the one where you live on the expenses that you fabricate and then hide the details of. In the real World thats at best being economic with the truth but most people would describe it as boardering on theft or fraud.
But do our Government feel any shame at their dirty little practices have been exposed - No - not a bit of it.

Next piece of news is that the Government is going to the High Court to prevent the details of the MP's expenses abuse being made public. If ever there was a single news item that encapsulated the gulf that now exists between the average Brit and Village Westminster it is this.

All I could think of was the US hotelier who when jailed for massive tax evasion said "only the little people pay tax" So its now OK for MP's to steal as well as lie.

It is my experience that when ever a politician wants to get away with something thats a bit suspect they play "The Security Card" that universal get out of jail free card that enables all their grubby little secrets to be buried away so that the poor sops, you and me, that have to pay for it all cannot see whats going on.

Turn on the radio and the FSA, who remember have very well paid cushy little numbers "regulating" the Financial industry, put out a report that lists a littany of fundamental failures on its part that have resulted in the UK tax payer having to stump up £100 billion to prop up Northern Rock - yep the message was well we were completely incompetant but hey we will learn from this and lets move on.

No resignations, No sackings not even an apology.

This huge exposure for all of the UK population was totally avoidable.

So I had a trawl around at some published figues, there is a legal requiremment for Governments to publish things like money supply statistics - but like all bureaucrats they make a good job of hiding them but I did eventually get my hands on the Bank of Englands money supply figures.

now I hear you asking so what - well as Zimbabwe is proving expand the money supply and you create a broadly equal rate of inflation, in their case a plane load of German printed money being delivered every week equals a huge increase in the money supply equals inflation at a mind numbing rate of 100,000%, thats prices going up by 273 times a day.
The Bank of England figures show very clearly that Brown & Co have been printing money at the rate of around 14% a year for the last 4 or 5 years - which is now of course creating a level of inflation that most normal Brits would recognise from their daily/weekly expenditure of around 12% rather than the nonsense figure put out by the Government

Not rocket science, just basic economics

The real puzzle for me is why the hell have the Brits not risen up and raised hell about the the way they are being treated.

I, and many others have been trying to point out the structural defects in the Blair Brown Labour smoke and mirrors Government for quite some time. It now looks as though the great British public have at last woken up - and are they angry.

It was, of course inevitable that the whole edifice would come crashing down, it had to, as it had no foundations, just take a strong economy, actually created by John Major, and then two people who lied and lied and lied some more.

lets look at what has actually happened over the last 10 years.

The Bliar & Brown have moved a massive amount of money away from the productive sector of the economy in to the non productive ( or should that be parasitic) sector.
Huge sums of money have been poured in to Central & Local Government departments and their legions of hangers ons. The nett result - fuck all - apart from a bloated and grotesquely overpaid army of state funded employees. I won't call them workers because they are not, their productivity is so low as to be below the point of measurement.

The final added insult to injury is that not only is their productivity very low they accept responsibility for nothing - the incidencies in recent months are so appaling that you really couldn't make them up. A Government Research Station actually starts an epidemic of Foot and Mouth disease - another kick in the teeth to the farming community. The education results, despite New Speak claims from New Labour sink lower and lower - a sound kick in the teeth for every parent. then the Revenue & Customs reveal the details of half the UK population a sound kick in the teeth for everyone. And just don't get me going on the treatment of our armed forces, I am just amazed that both Bliar & brown managed to walk away alive from their fleeting visists to Iraq and Afghanistan and there are plenty more examples.

There is, of course, a common cause of all of these failings - its MONEY - Governments, as Thatcher pointed out, don't have any money its all ours.
All Governments can do is decide how to spend it, and they do that very very badly. Faced with a decision on what to do with, what is it now £12 Billion and rising for the Olympics Should we spend it on the people of the UK, Health Education, proper facilities for the Armed Forces or blow on a few weeks of self aggrandisement, no contest the self aggrandisement wins everytime.

And now we have the sleazy underbelly of the whole Labour structure with sneaky funding from the jewish nation. We are now expected to believe that the famed so called control freak Chancellor did not know and did not ask where all the money was coming from. As my friend David from Sarf London would say " your aving a fucking larf ent yer"

 Comments

Jocks Revenge ?

Well you can't say you were not warned. I wrote months ago that Brown intended to sell the UK straight down the river and guess what he has.
The sly bastard has oh so quietly crept over to meet his grey faceless masters from Brussels and agreed to hand the UK over lock stock and barrel.

Well I say the UK but its really only England because Browns home, Scotland, has always wanted to be seperate and needs to be a recognised member state of the EU so it can continue to get someone else to subsidise its population.
We should not forget that Scotland is little more than a state funded job creation scheme with 54% of its core economy being state supported. Yes I know all about the oil, but if Scotland had been independent the oil companies would merely have extended the pipes and brought it to shore further south.

The conspiracy theorists can now have a field day - its all looks so contrived - A Scottish cabal manage to take over the Labour Party and then, by turning it into a cruel pastiche of the party that it traditionally loathed, The Conservatives, it gains power. What does it do with the power, it diverts even more money to Scotland where a Scot now gets 50% more spent on them than the English who actually pay for it all via the highest tax rates in the Western World and in the final act of revenge they destroy the authority of Parliament by handing it all over to Brussels.
I assume that once thats done they will creep back to the land of horizontal mist and rejoice in Jocks Revenge.

Oh, and please don't give me any shit about "red lines" go and read the documents, I have, and the much proclaimed protective red lines are meaningless and in any case time limited.

Coincidental, or may be planned, its nearly Guys Fawkes Night. Now there is a real conspiracy theory that could run and run. I won't mention a recently resigned closet Catholic wanting to complete what Guido started in 1605

 Comments

I wish i hadn't said that

I have often wondered who it is in recent times who most regretted a remark made earlier in life. My current favourites are:

Gordon Brown who said in 1997 "I will not allow house prices to get out of control and put at risk the sustainability of the future" since then the cost of the average UK house has risen from £70,000 to £220,000. so much for the efficacy or our erstwhile Chancellor and now Prime Minister.

Then of course there is the modern classic, the lie created by Bliar and Campbell in " that dossier" where in order to justify their obeying of US orders to attack Iraq they wrote " (Iraq has)military plans for the use of chemical and biological weapons, including against its own Shia population. Some of these weapons are deployable within 45 minutes of an order to use them."

Actually now I am on the subject of classics, perhaps these should be taking the number one spot. How about

I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.– Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943

We don’t like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out.– Decca Recording Co. rejecting the Beatles, 1962.

Are there better recorded incidents out there ?

 Comments

What a difference a day makes

Oh dear Gordon and it was all going so well. The problem is that you were lulled in to a false sense of your self worth. Now you have learned the lessons of life the hard way.

Its a very different situation to be the Big Boss of the Treasury where your bombastic, and often very cruel, bullying was unchallenged because to do so was the end of some civil servants career. On the other hand Tony whats'is name couldn't reveal the true extent of your nasty nature because it would have damaged his position.

It fell to Alastair Campbell to correctly observe that Brown was " psychologically flawed" Well, either by chance or design Cameron has ripped off the covers and the media and the electorate are now having a "the emporer has no clothes" feast.

It was bound to happen, but I am surprised the melt down happened quite so quickly.

So where to from here for Gordon, I fear its nowhere, the image carefully created over years and years is now for ever shattered.

Gordon is now revealed as an empty vessel that has stolen most of the wealth of the productive sector of the economy and wasted it on the unproductive sector.

billions pissed straight down the drain - for nothing

Here's a couple of little revelations - I had always thought that reports of teachers being required to teach children that the words to Baa Baa Black Sheep were really Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep was just an urban myth created by The Daily Mail or The Sun, but this morning I was talking to a young lady who is at college to learn Childcare and yes she really is required by the Education Authority to sing Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep - you really couldn't make it up.

You may have read in the media that Bliar and Cherie are about to pay out £3,000,000 for a country pad called Winslow Hall- interesting demonstration of Socialist values - but hey ho - one of the attractions apparently is that it has its own Catholic Chapel in the grounds.
What is not widely reported, if its reported at all, is that among the congregation of that chapel is one Ian Duncan Smith, discussions about The Broken Society over the communion wine perhaps - life is always far stranger than fiction

 Comments

worth the pay ?

I sometimes wonder what planet the average politician lives on.

This morning I read that the Brown One is going to give military personnel who have been on tour in Iraq or Afghanistan a discount on their Council Tax.

Lets look at that statement in detail.

first there is the obvious fact that this piece of news was kept back from yesterdays Labour Conference speech because the control freaks of Labour needed a high'ish profile press release on their control matrix today just in case the reaction to Gords speech was not suitably ecstatic - so lets pretend we are giving the sqaddies something.
It is of course giving nothing. Gord has merely told the MoD to give some of their budget to the Local Authorities. so its out of one Government pocket in to another.

So here is the deal being offered to our military - in exchange for laying down your life in a futile pointless war our grateful Government will let you off £160.00 of tax - fuck off seems the most appropriate reply.

Do these political twats not realise that if the decision about going to Afghanistan or Iraq was about money then all our people would leave the British Forces and join the legions of " independent security operatives " the private armys and mercenaries that are operating without any responsibility in the war zones. Where £160.00 represents a mornings work. No our people are their because they are loyal and believe in good.

It has to be the ultimate insult to offer a discount on the Council tax for a property thats unfit for human habitation - have you seen some of the slums that this Government provides for our military? Of course the fact that Gord sold them to George Soros and now has to rent them back and also pay the maintenance is another story for another time.

Did you notice that the new look given by the spin miesters to Gord ( hey don't forget I'm British ) makes him look just like Danny Devito's portrayal of The Penguin in the Batman movies.

 Comments

Controlling the Benefit System

Goverments for as long as I am able to remember have struggled with the thorny issue of controlling the amount of money paid in benefits - they have always failed.
Annually the UK now spends £140,000,000,000 £140 billion a year which equates to £2,600 from every man woman & child. Of course it isn't actually extracted that evenly but thats the subject of another debate.

Clearly it is well beyond the ability of Government and its army of enforcers to properly police the benefit system or it would by now be under control and clearly it is not.

So is there a solution ? I think there may well be one that is so simple I am uncertain why it has never been adopted.

I start from the premise that the desired " norm " is that people stand on their own two feet making their own way in society and that the benefit system is there as a safety net when things go wrong. Hopefully most people would agree that this is correct.

As its the " Public " that are paying for the benefits via taxation surely it is entirely logical that the process is entirely in the public domain.

The Government departments that pay out the money have a name and an address for every recipient, if they haven't why not ?

All we need is a web site organised by postal code that lists the name, address, the amount of money being paid and reason why.

At a stroke the system becomes self policing, I sure I am no different to most people living in the UK in being able to draw up a list of people locally who do not work, never have done but still seem able to buy a new car, drink every night, smoke, take holidays - you know the list as well as I do.

While its very easy to bullshit some numpty down the dole office into believing that you are " stressed " or suffering from " anxiety " its rather more difficult to maintain that pretence stood in the bar with your neighbours around you.

instead of friendsreunited.co.uk we could have reunitedwithworkingandpayingtaxliketherestofus.co.uk

 Comments

multi culturism

Its odd isn't it how we can discuss most things openly and rationally but the subject of immigration and race is still pretty well taboo.

Am I alone in thinking that something has slowly crept up on us that now we cannot deal with, if I say in public that I am uncomfortable with the close presence of say a person from another country or a person from another culture I am immediately branded as a racists bigot.
Well as it happens I am not, but lets look at the origins of my discomfort.

Although Leakys diggings in Olduvai Gorge suggest the Homo Sapien evolved about 200,000 years ago, its generally considered that modern man evolved about 10,000 to 12,000 years ago.
Now in evolutionary terms thats sub segments of a nano second, so we are not yet different in any significant way than we were then, apart perhaps from being taller, fatter and no longer all black. ( ie if you accept that Leakys theory that modern man evolved from the Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania, then the early ones must have been black)

My real point however is that our inbuilt reflexes will not have changed all that much.

To illustrate my point lets imagine for a moment that we are all sitting around our freshly killed aardvark debating whether the fact that my cave is bigger than yours should automatically mean that I give you more of the aardvark than I get (well thats basically the argument for Council Tax banding)

When into our cave troops a group of strangers, they demand a share of the aardvark, even though they didn't participate in the hunt and then take up residence in the back of the cave, shun our way of life and insist on being fed.

It is unlikely at that level that without any understanding of each other, our imaginary cavemen would be saying " hey lets embrace multiculturism " in the same way as lesser animals are programmed. Sentient beings respond to intrusion by either fight or flight, that is how evolution has programmed them to respond. Do you think that the sparrow on your lawn or garden fence when watching a cat is thinking to itself, hey I know we are different but lets live together, no it flys away damn quick before it comes to any harm

My point being that a wariness of the unknown is a survival instinct built in to us all, not, as the BBC or Guardian would insist, a sign that we are foaming at the mouth right wing racists.

By making debate all but impossible we are left with the shorthand used by lazy media writers i.e racists don't like a person because they are a different colour, a position as ludicrous as it is possible to be. Stop - now and consider that friend of yours who just happens to be another colour, friendship is colour blind

There are lots of people I don't like, and I am sure there are lots of people who don't like me - well thats life.

What the average Brit really feels uncomfortable with is a situation in which " others " ( and in reality no one really gives a damn about their race, creed, gender or sexuality) enter their society and are given preferential treatment. The UK is a nation of remarkably well adjusted people who are also very fair minded, but Governments local or central, that favour the takers over the providers are in fact the racists.

Touching on the subject of sexuality earlier reminded me of my father, he was born in 1919 and used to tell me that in his youth homosexuality was " the love that dare not speak its name " slowly over the years it became what I think we would now refer to as " the elephant in the room " its there, we know its there, but we are not going to acknowledge or talk about it, then came the legalisation on homosexual practices between consenting adults followed by the good old BBC and well meaning Governments progressively presenting it as merely an alternative life style, My father always maintained that if you followed this trend through to its logical conclusion he wanted to die before it became compulsory. He achieved his wish but as he only died a few years ago it was a close run thing

 Comments

Is it safe to come out again?

I have been avoiding all media for the last few days, I just could not tolerate the endless, self indulgent column inches devoted to Diana Princess of Wales.
Good to see that Mike Jackson is still the only senior military man with the balls to tell it as it is, good man Mike, been a long way since Mil Survey. Mike correctly puts the blame for the Iraq mess firmly where it should be, with the Pentagon and Rumsfeld. The former being probably the worse run military machine on the planet, more likely to kill their friends than the enemy and the latter just a moron without a clue that another clueless idiot put in charge of the Iraq strategy. It could have been so easy, decapitate (thats remove their senior officers, not behead them all) the security forces built by Sadam and put some UN Officers in as temporary command pending internal elections but no we have to have willy waving idiots strutting their macho stuff with all the bravery of being out of range. Plus that twat Bliar threw his lot in with the idiots and the rest they say is history, sadly a history built on pools of innocent blood
Talking of Iraq, here is a foolproof way of knowing when the next UK election is being held - it will be 4 weeks after the Brown One announces the withdrawl of UK troops from Iraq.

 Comments

Why is it assumed we care

Have I just got terminally miserable ? or am I missing the point somewhere ?

Over the last few days my newspapers have been full of tales about two women

Amy Winehouse and Diana The late Princess of Wales

The huge coverage seems to assume that we care, er why?

In the first example Amy Winehouse, where is the interest in just one more sad and inadequate person with fairly limited talent commiting suicide slowly, painfully and in public, frankly mam I don't give a damn.

Oh and for Christs sake can we stop the endless column inches given over to Diana, she was a damaged, very manipulative and not very bright woman who was briefly married to another person from a similar background with similar baggage. The marriage didn't work, she went off and shagged everything in site and so did he, eventually going back to the woman he should have married in the first place.Sounds like a normal marriage break up to me.

The only good thing that seems to have come from the whole sorry episode are their two sons who are surprisingly level headed and normal.

thats it, she died 10 years ago, yes thats a personal tragedy for her family but enough is enough.

Could someone tell me why the tabloid press have not got hold of something that Harry has touched eaten or smoked so that a DNA test could be run and compared to Hewitt

 Comments

Government Computer Systems

I have been banging on for years about the inadequacies of Government computer systems - basically they do not work efficiently, if at all, and consume vast sums of money.
yet again this morning a report is quietly slipped in to the public domain, a good day to bury bad news, that the DNA ( do you know what DNA stands for? its the National Association of Dyslexics) Database contains half a million errors, no change there then.

This follows on the early trials of the NHS system that showed it to be so insecure that they may as well just publish everyones personal details on the internet in a health version of wikipedia.Anyone could just look up anyone. lets see Blair A - pathological liar but good actor tendency to send British military personnel to their death in a futile gesture to make him look good.

Just cannot wait for the ID card system.

Todays pieces of useless information - the ID card systems in the World that come close to working come from Israel

Afghanistan now produces orders of magnitude more heroin than when the Taliban were in control

 Comments

Gang, Knife & Gun Culture

Suddenly the UK has noticed that Ian Duncan Smith did actually do a very thorough and competant job with his Broken Society document.

I no longer hear the patronising sneering coming from the likes of the Guardian and the BBC. The lurch to the right jibes have been silenced.

Why ? because the truth suddenly burst through the veneer of half truth and propaganda that politicians had hidden it with for years.

There is of course a very very simple solution that cures not only the epidemic of gang, gun and knife culture but addresses that other politician created mess - Iraq & Afghanistan.

It would take about 14 days to recall Parliament and bring to the Statute Book a law that required those found guilty of carrying, let alone using, an offensive weapon with out justification to be sent immediately to the front line in Iraq or Afghanistan.

OK sonny so you think its hard to carry a gun do you, lets see how you hard you are when the person who disses you is a Taliban fighter with an AK47 who is determined to cut you limb from limb and spread the pieces all over the desert.

The little shits would also get their much desired 15 minutes of fame in a video on Al Jazeera being beheaded by a bigger thug than them hacking at their throat with a great big knife, while they screamed for mercy and demanded their rights - justice in deed

The best solutions are always the simplest

 Comments

Catching Up on the News

Well I had a few days off and what happens, the whole media goes into bias overload.
Its a job to know where to start, lets start with the most irritating.

The Conservative Party publish the latest of their, surprisingly well considered, policy reviews. This one on Economics, written by John Redwood so how do the BBC react, well no surprise there the rabid pinkos just couldn't control themselves and just had to preface the piece on the economic review with a 12 or 13 year old clip of John Redwood trying manfully, but failing,to pretend he knew the words of the Welsh National Anthem (who does)
er what possible relevance does that have other than being a very nasty attempt on the part of Browns Broadcasting Company to slur a political opponent.

Ah lets look at the melt down of the " financial markets " I think it was Soviet President Kruschev who took one look at the London Stock Exchange and said it was a casino and thats exactly what it is.
I have long found it incomprehensible that a company grows and prospers because it does well at what ever it was it did. Those that work in it do perhaps passably well, then it floats on the Stock Exchange and the vultures, lawyers, accountants, analysts, etc descend insisting that they must make orders of magnitude more than those that created the company in the first place.
I well recall the stunned silence when I pointed out to a band of pompous accountants that they were part of an occupation thats only skill was measuring the achievements of other people.

The reality of the Financial markets is that they are little more than a huge confidence trick, the USA is bankrupt, financially and morally. it owes more money than it has just to the Chinese let alone the rest of the World, The UK is bankrupt because it has accumulated debts to future state employee pensioners that again dwarf its reserves.
The EU is bankrupt and its accounts have not been accepted for years and years and years.
When you get down to cold hard financial reality the only people with money in the bank are the Chinese and a handful of smaller nations that traditionally live within their means, countries like Australia and New Zealand.
It makes me smile when I read the Times Rich List and see that so and so has shares " worth " millions or even billions, No, a share is like anything else in this world, it is only worth what someone else will give you for it on the day you want to sell it. Until that point it is all but worthless.

I am a great supporter of the UK armed forces, they are made up of some of the finest examples of mankind that you are likely to see.
I have utter and total contempt for the politicians who seek to treat them as morons who will die just to create todays positive headlines.
The UK should not be in Iraq or Afghanistan, should never have gone there and should leave immediately.
The UK has no strategic interest in the area, is receiving no present or future advantage in being there and because they have their hands tied behind their backs the military are achieving absolutely nothing other than premature and painful death of people on both sides.
Interesting to note that the UK parliaments committee that suggested a similar plan was not reported by the BBC.
Can someone please explain to me how a country, Afghanistan, that the UK Government is " sorting out" can massively expand its heroin production and subsequent export to the streets of the UK ?

On a lighter note, I see the political leaders of the Scots are mouthing off again because they want to be Independent, I only have one word of comment - Goodbye

 Comments

Identity Cards

So this idea has bubbled back to the surface again,( good time to sneak the news through while the MPs are away) and the UK Government are " inviting tenders " for a National ID card scheme to " deal with terrorism"

Words almost, but not quite, fail me.

Lets look at this proposal bit by bit.
First
Cost, It is suggested that the scheme will cost £6 billion, yeh just like the Dome was going to cost £50 million and cost £1 billion,
the little boys club and debating chamber otherwise known as the Scottish Parliament Building, originally going to cost £10 million, actual cost £450 million

or perhaps the IT system that is most similar in scope to the ID card scheme - the NHS IT system - this too was originally going to cost £6 billion.

The scheme is now years and years late, doesn't do any of the things that were promised, very well if at all and the final cost is unknown but " probably in excess of £31 billion"

If you know where to look you will find legions of failed IT schemes embarked upon by Government that failed totally and were quietly taken behind the barn and shot, away from public view. The casual way in which expenditure like £40 million on, say Trawlerman, was just abandoned is quite breathtaking and thats just one out of hundreds of similar failed projects.

Looking back I can only think of one Government IT project finished on budget and on time, coincidentally its also the only occassion I can think of where the civil servant responsible got fired, obviously Jane let the side down by doing the job properly.

Back to ID cards - in summary the costs will be astronomic and not controlled.

Lets look at the technology, simple really, the technology to do what is wanted does not exist any where in the World - period

So lets look at the setting up of the system
there are somewhere around 60,000,000 Brits, so just entering the data, in a 100% reliable and accurate manner will not only involve something north of 20,000 man years of work, the chances of it being correct are absolutely zero. A good example of the hurdles to be jumped is that there are at least 15 ways of spelling Mohammed, I choose that as an example as it is now in the Top 10 given names in the UK.

Finally " it will help defeat terrorism" give me a break please, what just like the USA system did with the 9/11 bombers.(it is ironic that a nation like the USA that spends trillions on defence and security was humiliated for the cost of a few air tickets)

Any, and I mean any, piece of IT gadgetry that the UK introduces will be made up of components from all around the World, that will be very easy for those so minded to obtain. My estimate is that it will take about one month for the first forged ID cards to appear, thus negating the whole system.

ID cards, we cannot afford them, we don't need them and they won't work, so why are we even talking about them.

Oh I forgot we have a control freak as PM and the faceless ones that control the EU have instructed that we have to.

 Comments

Guantanamo Bay

You have to hand it to The Brown One, he really does show what a complete amatuer Bliar was when it came to spin.
TBO announces that the UK is demanding the release of 5 inmates held by the USA in the Cuban Guantanamo bay prison and the whole British media fall into a supine position and praise him for "standing up to the Americans" well actually No thats not what is happening.

Bush is now a lame duck President and unable to sustain the illegal activities, that he only got away with before because they were happening in a piece of another country illegally occupied by the US. He is bowing to US political pressure to quietly defuse the Guantanamo problem and disperse the individuals held there.
So no standing up to, just a significantly better form of spin.
Well done that man

BUT, and there is always a but, don't forget the very old maxim
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time

There is also the subject of what the hell are we in the West doing condoning the illegal occupation of a piece of Cuba in the first place, but having said that there are chunks of the UK that have been handed over to the US - Memwith Downs for instance

 Comments

Now they want to confiscate your savings

I have to hand it to the Brown One, his slightly creepy softly softly approach does seem to be lulling the UK voters into a dreamy " it must be OK Gordon says so" reminds me of the snake in Jungle Book.

Of course, what is really going on is just as devious and nasty as anything he perpetrated with his mate Bliar.

Judge them by what they do not what they say.

I'll give you a couple of examples.

Inheritance Tax, a particularly nasty tax this,it is the method by which Brown steals my lifes work from my grandchildren.

In 1997 the average house price in the UK was £68,000, the point at which Inheritance Tax became payable was £215,000 thats 3.6 times the house value. With the house only going 32% of the way towards an Inheritance Tax liability it was way beyond most peoples dreams of their ultimate wealth

Now in 2007 the average house price in the UK is £200,000 and the point at which Inheritance Tax becomes payable is £285,000 and still rising fast, thats now 1.4 times the house value. We now have a situation in which the house on its own takes you 70% of the way to an Inheritance Tax liability, Add a few savings and the assetts that have been accumulated during a life time and guess what it now gets everyone who owns a house. Of course the idle and feckless are exempt but thats how things are in New Labours Britain

In 1997 the average brits view was " its only the rich bastards who have to pay it so I don't care" but oh so quietly the Brown One has crept up behind them, silently sliding in the knife between the shoulder blades and now its going to be them that pay, well actually its their children and grandchildren.

NOW The Brown One wants to steal the contents of savings accounts that have been dormant for more than 10 years as well, I don't know about you but I have savings accounts that just sit there with a small sum of money waiting for a rainy day. so when I need it I will find its been stolen by the Government, yes I know there will be a procedure to get it back, you can just imagine how complex and expensive that will be.

Oh and just to show Browns real intent this only covers private money, he wants the, coincidentally very similar sums held dormant in the State owned National Savings schemes to be exempt.

So the quietly delivered message is I can steal yours but I'm not touching the money that I hold for you.

The more they change the more they remain the same

 Comments

Manager or Administrator ?

I wrote earlier about the inadequacies of the Governmental organisations Pirbright Research and DEFRA.
After I had put down my virtual pen it got me thinking about my experiences with employees of the Government at all levels, in recent years a lot of them like to describe themselves as a Manager or as Managers. Going on to complain about the level of stress they are forced to endure. Apart from the obvious reply of what effing stress there is the perhaps more pressing question of what is a Manager.

Well the Dictionary says: manage - be successful; achieve a goal;

Not a good start there then for the average numpty in Local or Central government.

As any manager in the real world of industry or commerce will tell you the role of manager means that you spend most of the day out on the end of a limb, trusting that the decision you made, based on education, training and experience will actually work out as planned. You, of course, are the point at which the buck stops and know that if your decision doesn't have the desired effect there is no one else to blame.

By stark contrast the so called managerial role of the local or central Government person is no more than an Administrator, one piece of a bureacratic process working against a defined set of rules with the huge added bonus of zero responsibility.

It is this style of organisation that spawned the Human Rights Act with gives everyone, even those who do not deserve them Rights but says nothing, zero, zilch about responsibilities.

Any one fancy a Human Rights & Responsibilities Act

 Comments

Yet Again, You Couldn't Make It Up

Am I the only one who asks why we bother to employ the thousands and thousands of Civil Servants that we do.

We now have the situation where it appears the the bright bastards at Pirbright Research are responsible for starting another Foot & Mouth outbreak.

Look you incompetant band of shits, just because you have nice easy little jobs with huge salaries and gold plated pensions, don't forget that the rest of us actually have to graft for an income. When your mistakes lead to the destruction of our animals not only is it personally traumatic, the animals stay dead and our businesses stay bust.
What happens to you, nothing, no sackings,no reduction in your income not even a reprimand. the best we will get out of the complacent arseholes at Pirbright or DEFRA will be a meally mouthed statement say something like " we have learned from this, but now we must move on "

tell you what Gordon old boy, I'll do a deal, you properly punish the so called managers of Pirbright and DEFRA oh and not " naughty boy don't do it again" but sacked, stripped of pension and prosecuted under the Terrorism Act for spreading a dangerous disease and I will vote for you, so I imagine would all the other non town and city dwellers in the UK. yes I know its a surprise but apparently there are people living outside the M25, its true we are all a bit common and don't eat much polenta but we still , just, have votes

 Comments

Live Together or Get Married ?

Its always good to see that our Government has got its priorities right.
On the day that they require our armed forces to sneak out of Northern Ireland with their tail between their legs because the politicians capitulated entirely, only killed 730 service men, thats 730 family lives destroyed for no good reason, and what do they do

They announce that if you live with someone when you part they will have a claim on your assetts.

Never mind Iraq, Afghanistan, NHS in melt down, transport grid locked etc, etc, etc

Could I politely suggest that before they extend the legalised theft to co-habitees that they tidy up the law on married couples, it would just take a simple change, in fact it could logically apply to both categories and has the added advantage thats it how things are in Scotland already.

So what is it, simple, what you both have when you meet remains yours, what you jointly create during the relationship is divided on a straight 50/50 basis. This would also include responsibility for any children created during the relationship.

Simple, straight forward and understandable, the only disadvantage that I can see is that it would deny the legal industry their most lucrative area of income.Of course it won't happen because the majority of MP's are also lawyers.

Perhaps Dave Cameron would like to champion this, he could do with a policy or two

My mother in law has a similar effect, I always know when she is coming because the sky goes dark and the birds stop singing.

Question ! How come its the place of an incoming British Prime Minister to immdiately go running to pay homage to the President of the United States, why can't he come here ?

 Comments

Here's One He Made Previously

I think most intelligent people are now slowly waking up the reality that Gordon Brown single handedly stole the pensions of the Industrial & Commercial workers of the UK, makes Maxwell look like an amatuer.

Lets look at some of his previous form.

Do you remember Spring 2000 ?
One of the events that happened then was the auction of thin air called the 3G mobile licences in which the morons running the mobile phone industry paid the Brown one just a shade under £23,000,000,000 thats £23 billion for the 3G licences.

A neat trick.

I was re reading earlier a report produced at the time by the Academics from Oxford University & University College London who advised on the auction. Buried away in the 26 page document is the note:

"The British Treasury used the money towards paying off the National Debt"
they further noted that the sum raised

"was equal to 2.5% of the UK Gross National Product"

and was sufficient " to build 400 new hospitals"

on the face of it very commendable - however -

if we then look across at The House of Commons Research Paper 01/117 which deals with a strange sleight of hand known as PFI (thats Private Finance Initiative) in which an accountancy trick is used to pretend that the Public Finance & Borrowing requirement is not as high as it really is.

In the Research paper we see that as at 2001 the Treasury ( run by the Brown one, remember)had signed PFI contract that coincidentally added up to £20 billion

with me so far ?

The real killer in these agreements is that the very least that future generations will have to pay back under the PFO contracts is £100 billion over 25 years (not my figures, these are Treasury figures) Of course the figure will be much, much bigger because Civil Servants are, as I know from personal experience, incapable of managing anything.

So good old Gordon shags the mobile industry for £23 billion and pays off old debt - He then borrows ( but pretends he hasn't) another £23 billion which our children will have to pay back at least 4 times over.

There is of course another nasty twist in this little escapade, the 3G licence purchasers have subsequently realised their position and have " written off " most of the expenditure, neat trick because the write offs are offset against their tax liability, so thats billions of tax that they do not have to pay or put it another way they take back the billions they paid in the first place.

So instead of 400 hospitals wholly owned by the people we are lumbered sadly with the debt now incurred under PFI that doesn't go away, thats real - still think he was a good Chancellor?

 Comments

European Constitution

HELLO YOU LOT WAKE UP

Do I have your attention now?

Please pay attention because you are being sold down the river. The Brown one, you know him, Good Old Gordon , he who has saved us from the Bliar.

While you are all being held in an hypnotic trance by that soft and oh so reasonable Scottish voice, over in Brussles he is commiting an act of dishonesty on a level that has not been seen before.

You will recall that most of the voters of Europe rejected the attempt to turn the economic union into a State. The Constitution was thrown out and that was the end of that. Well actually no, because if you are an unelected and unaccountable European politician you just call the draft constitution something else, treaty perhaps, deny the proles the opportunity to read it and rush, rush it through.

So unless you wake up by December you will wake up in 2008 with a new Government. One over which you have no influence, One which is considered the most corrupt in the World.

Lets look at a few other facts & statistics

How many layers of Government does it take to rule say a Scot?
1 Parish Council
2 District Council
3 County Council
4 Regional Council
5 Scottish Parliament
5 Westminster Parliament
7 European Parliament

Thats 7 lots of fat idle bureaucrats that the workers have to feed and water, Oh and don't forget that they have all got gold plated, and totally unfunded, pensions, so its for ever and paid for by the workers who have had their pensions destroyed/ stolen by Brown & the labour regime.

Fact 2
The USA Government employs 5% of its population

The UK Government employs 10% of its population

 Comments

UK Floods

Well that must have really helped the good citizens of places like Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Temple Barr and Oxford there they are houses destroyed by floods, up to their knees in floating sewerage, no water for the next 10 days, probably an unreliable electricity supply and guess what yep a politician turns up to look at them as though they were some sub species that has just been discovered living in the slime.

I see one of the insensitive arseholes wouldn't even gets his wellies wet and floated by in an amphibious vehicle peering down his nose at the proles through a porthole.

The Brown one stood in a car park shedding crocodile tears but ignoring the fact that it was he who has cut the flood defence budget for the last 10 years. A good old Dave went for some sunshine in Rwanda - yes we get the Government we deserve. I really do thinks its time for voting to be made compulsory and for the voting papers to have an added line saying " non of the above "
